On the 16th May 2014 the 20th anniversary New Zealand Hi Tech Awards were held at the Airforce Museum in Christchurch and Imarda were proud to be a supporter of this important industry event.
The NZ Hi Tech Awards were started 20 years ago, in 1994, by Imarda CEO, Selwyn Pellett. Originally called the VSI Electronics Excellence Awards, they were launched to grow and draw attention to New Zealand's Hi Tech companies and give the industry proper position in the New Zealand landscape. The awards have grown into a year long programme of events, and this year received more than 200 entries ranging from new startups to some of the industries biggest players. What was evident from all the entries was the incredible quality of the companies and people working in the Hi Tech space.
On the night of the awards more than 700 people from the across the industry, including ICT, bio-tech, agri-tech, digital media, telecommunications and electronics, came together to celebrate. Orion Health took away the Hi Tech Company of the Year for 2014. With Vend winning the Emerging Company of the Year, Vigil Monitoring winning Pre Comm Company of the Year, and Smart Water Technology winning Start-up Company of the Year. Imarda believes these awards to be a vital part of creating a flourishing Hi Tech industry, the celebraton, high visability and healthy competition make the industry and all the companies in it stronger. The finalists in the 2014 Hi Tech Industry alone generate more than $350 million in export revenue for New Zealand and employ more than 5000 New Zealanders, this is an industry we are proud to be part of and an event we are proud to support.
